Meditation on the Lord's Prayer

Some folks have suggested that praying the Lord's Prayer leads to just speaking a rote prayer. To counter that idea I offer this meditation based on the Lord's Prayer. As you will see I have used the prayer as a template so to speak. I have placed my meditations in italics beneath each line of text of the Lord's Prayer. This is not intended to be exhaustive by any means. It is just a simple example of how the prayer could be used. I would suggest you try this and see if it is helpful to you.

Our Father in heaven,
Although You are King of the Universe, Jesus teaches us to address you as Our Father.
Hallowed be Your name.
We ask that we would love you with all of our heart, mind, soul, and strength.
Your kingdom come.
Help us to bring the good news of your kingdom to those around us lost in darkness.
Your will be done
Help us to discern your will in all things and to acknowledge your sovereignty.
On earth as it is in heaven.
That Your presence would be near to us.
Give us this day our daily bread.
Help us make good use of all the things you have provided material and spiritual.
And forgive us our debts,
Show us when we stand in need of repentance.
As we forgive our debtors.
Help us to love our enemies as you have shown so that we would be like you.
And lead us not into temptation,
Help us to see your beautiful glory so that we would fear nothing or love nothing more than you.
but deliver us from evil.
Help us remember, Jesus Christ risen from the dead and the power of the Holy Spirit given to us.
